It's Father's Day! We gotta do something for the old man!
As you're running down your list of possibilities — remember dad's a pretty straight forward guy. Something groovy, tasty and relatively simple, totally fits the bill. The most important part of the experience is sitting around the table, with his peeps, enjoying laughs and family banter. A gloriously tasty Mushroom Burger is only the side hustle to the part he loves the most. Spending time together. Enjoy! Check out the Kare11 segment with Karl and Belinda.
Cheers Pops. We got you!
Makes 4-8 servings
Ingredients:
Toppings: ketchup, mustard, lettuce, onions, pickles….
In a large bowl gently mix together meat, salt and pepper. Divide into 8 balls. Gently flatten each ball into a 1-in thick disc. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty and set aside.
Heat the grill, grill pan or skillet over medium high heat. When it is hot, lightly grease or oil the pan/grill. Place the patties on to cook. Turn once. Cook until the burgers are to your liking (according to the USDA beef burgers should be cooked to at least 160º F)
Top with cheese for the last minute. Smother with mushroom medley sauté, grilled onions and serve on toasted buns.
Ingredients:
Place the sauté pan over medium heat. Add olive oil or butter. Add the garlic. Stir it through the butter/oil to flavor the oil. Add mushrooms.
Sauté mushrooms until they release their moisture. Salt and pepper to taste.
If you are looking for a bit extra zing, drizzle with balsamic vinegar or mushroom soy sauce. Sprinkle with chives. Reserve for burgers.
Ingredients:
Trim ends off the onion and outer skin. Thick slice. Skewer each whole onion slices with a few toothpicks. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill over medium heat until slices are slightly charred and soft.
