Thanksgiving Tip #2: Guest are arriving hungry ...

When guests arrive, have something for them to snack on, Chef Zoe ~

I always like a mix of hot and cold finger foods that people can keep coming back for and eat with one hand (assuming the other hand has Phill's Tequila Toddy in it). Since Thanksgiving is all about the big meal, apps should be a little lighter, make ahead friendly, and different enough from the types of things being served for dinner.

I love Ina Garten's shrimp cocktail technique with the roasted shrimp (all of which can be done ahead of time, or broiled for only 5 minutes). I adjust her cocktail sauce by replacing the chili sauce with tomato paste to make it a little thicker, and adding extra horseradish and lemon!

hot toddyHot Tequila Toddy

Pour Tequila, herbal liqueur, and ciderhouse syrup in a coffee mug and stir for 15 seconds. Next pour hot water into the mug and garnish with a lemon twist. Enjoy!
